Leadership

Leadership

What does it mean to be an officer? To me being an officer means to be a leader in a positive light. What I mean by this is that an officer should lead non-officers by example and show them what it takes to be a leader. Always having integrity, patriotism, tenacity, courage, and service; that’s leading by example. As we all know, one must follow before they can lead, as it’s through following leaders that we learn the responsibilities they hold. An officer is known to hold a position of authority, but must also earn that position and the major respect they receive from it. As a military officer, you uphold the values of the military, you represent your country and stand tall; people look up to every officer for that. By becoming an officer you are accepting a very serious responsibility.
