Lieutenant Colonel Jesse W. Hunt


Lieutenant Colonel Jesse W. Hunt is the Commander of Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps Detachment 585, Department Chair and Professor of Aerospace Studies at Duke University. He is responsible for overseeing the recruitment and preparation of officer candidates through a comprehensive education and training program. This program develops and produces professional leaders who are dedicated to serve the nation and prepared to lead the United States Air Force in the 21st century.

 Col Hunt entered the Air Force in 1997 as a graduate of the Reserve Officer Training Corps program at Florida State University where he received Bachelor of Science degrees in Social Science and Sociology. He has earned a Congressionally Awarded Masters of Science degree in Strategic Intelligence from the National Defense Intelligence College and a Masters of Science in Management from Troy State University. Col Hunt has served in various operational and staff positions involving nuclear intercontinental ballistic missiles, space launch, satellite command and control, space control, national reconnaissance, intelligence and resource planning, programming, budgeting and execution. Col Hunt has served at the squadron, group, wing, numbered Air Force, Headquarters Air Force and Secretary of the Air Force levels.

Major Jody R. Wood

Operations Flight Commander

Maj Jody Wood is currently the Operations Flight Commander for Detachment 585. Previously at Eglin AFB he was the Program Manager for a number of armament related projects. Jody enlisted in the Navy in 1991 as a Hospital Corpsman, where he served 5 years. After graduating from NC State University in 2002 with degrees in Biomedical and Biological Engineering he attended Officer Training School at Maxwell AFB, AL. As an Acquisitions Officer, he has served at Wright-Patterson AFB upgrading the B-1’s radar and cockpit displays. In addition, he has worked with the Defense Contract Management Agency-Pratt and Whitney where he led the team that inspected and accepted the engines for the F-15, F-16, F-22, and F-35. He has deployed to Afghanistan in support of Operations ENDURING FREEDOM and RESOLUTE SUPPORT.

Captain Andrea Callies

Recruiting Flight Commander

Capt Andrea Callies is an Assistant Professor of Aerospace Studies at Duke University, Detachment 585 where she is the Recruiting and Education Flight Commander.  Previously, Capt Callies worked as an Acquisition Manager on the Joint Space Operations Center Mission System and as a Launch Mission Manager for Evolved Expendable Launch Vehicles. She enlisted in the Air Force in 1997, working as a Supply Manager until she commissioned in 2013.  Capt Callies holds a Bachelor of Science in Management Studies from the University of Maryland University College and a Master of Science in Project Management from Embry Riddle Aeronautical University. Her previous assignments include Spangdahlem AB, Germany, Davis-Monthan AFB, Arizona, Kunsan AB, Korea, Hill AFB, Utah, and Vandenberg AFB, California. She has deployed to Kuwait, Iraq, and Djibouti in support of Operations SOUTHERN WATCH, IRAQI FREEDOM, and ENDURING FREEDOM. 

Master Sergeant Demond D. Darden

Non-Commissioned Officer-In-Charge

MSgt Demond Darden is the Non-Commissioned Officer-in-Charge (NCOIC) at the detachment.   Originally from North Carolina, MSgt Darden enlisted in the Air Force in March 2006 as a personnelist.  His previous assignments include Incirlik ABS, Turkey, Moody AFB, Georgia, and most recently Joint Base San Antonio Randolph, Texas where he worked at the Air Force Personnel Center.  MSgt Darden has also deployed to Baghdad, Iraq and Tampa, Fl in support of Operations IRAQI FREEDOM and INHERENT RESOLVE.
